Four Fire Safety Must-Haves

Here at Househappy, we are homeowners too and we know that fire safety is a major concern. While things can be replaced, your family’s safety is your number one priority — and it’s ours, too!

Here are a few of our Concierge team’s favorite fire safety products to keep your home and family safe.

Fire blankets suffocate fires before they get out of control
Similar in purpose to a fire extinguisher, a fire blanket can be used to put out a fire before it spreads beyond the source. This might be an especially great option in your home safety arsenal if operating a fire extinguisher would be difficult for one of your family members.

Smoke Alarms keep your family safe
Smoke Alarms are one of the easiest and most cost effective ways to keep your family safe. We like this combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector because it’s one less thing for you to check as a busy homeowner. Test your smoke alarms monthly and install new batteries every six months. Smoke alarms expire after 10 years of use — be sure to check out the expiration date on yours the next time you test the ones in your home!

Flameless candles are a safe way to add ambiance
Candles are a lovely way to add atmosphere and soft lighting to your home, but they are the cause of 23 house fires every day. These battery operated flameless candles are a great way to get the benefits of a candle without the risk of fire. Best of all, they can be put on a schedule so that you never have to think about turning them off.

Fire extinguishers are a home safety must-have
Fire extinguishers are the first line of defense in fire safety for your home, helping you prevent a small fire from growing into a larger one. Be sure to read the instructions on your fire extinguisher before you need it, as time is of the essence in an emergency situation.
